The Make Time Quilt: Cover Version

I’m so thrilled that the Make Time quilt pattern is NOW AVAILABLE in my shop! Don’t miss the beautiful quilt kits available for this pattern further down this post!

I love this pattern so much I made FOUR versions of it, and I’m still coming up with new fabric combinations to try. I may end up with another one yet!

Today I want to introduce you to the cover version of the pattern.

Red, white, and pink quilt held over bridge in Bourton-On-The-Water, Cotswalds, England

Let’s start with the fabrics!

The quilt top is made with Art Gallery Pure Solids in the colors: Snow, Crystal Pink, and Aurora Red. I partnered with Linli at Lamb and Loom to offer kits in this version for the pattern release. You can make one just like mine by grabbing the fabrics here!

The backing is such a FUN, COLORFUL Liberty quilting cotton from the Carnaby Collection. I purchased it from Leisa at Morris Textiles. Though it comes in multiple colorways, this pink and red floral was perfect for me!

The Quilting

Because this is my first pattern release I wanted to do something really special on the cover quilt. So I reached out to Jill at J-Coterie Design about custom quilting for this version.

Wow! Did she ever knock it out of the park! It’s so incredibly beautiful!

We definitely used that Liberty backing fabric as our inspiration and jumping off point for the quilting. She replicated the floral design on the back on the B Blocks AND in the BORDERS!!! Just look at these borders!!!

And I knew I wanted some straight lines around the A Blocks. Of course, Jill knew just what to do!

I have to say I teared up a bit when I opened the box and saw my finished cover quilt!

I also have to add how amazing Jill was to work with. She took so much time in care in making sure I knew the direction we were headed with most of the quilting…the red borders were a secret until I got the quilt in my hands. She gave me several choices of what she was thinking would look good and she did it all SO QUICKLY! She was even able to get the quilt back to me before I left for London so I could get quilt photos there.

AND…if you’re anything like me, you appreciate when someone else can do the things you hate doing…like piecing the backing and putting on the binding. Because finishing this quilt quickly was important to me so I could take it with me on my travels, Jill was able to do it ALL! That was a huge win in my book!

Why You’ll Love This Pattern

There are so many reasons to love this pattern:

  • For starters, it works great with both yardage AND fat quarters. It’s always good when you can use up your FQ stash!

  • It’s comes in three sizes: TRAVEL, Throw, and Bed. You can read all about the inspiration for the travel size here.

  • It’s versatile! The top and bottom borders are optional. Omitting the colorful borders definitely gives the quilt a more traditional feel.

  • There’s a little note of encouragement for YOU written into the pattern. It’s my goal to use my skills as a life coach (Yes! I am a life coach!) to pass on little nuggets of encouragement and tools for living as often as I can.
