About Jen

Hey there quilty friend! I’m so glad you’re here!

It can be said that most quilters are introverts (I know I am), but we also know how awesome it is when we find a friend that shares our same love of pretty fabric and having a “to-make” list a mile long!

Sound familiar? Well, you’ve found a new friend because that’s me, too!

Hey there! I’m Jen, the maker behind the Gathered Cotton brand.

Here you’ll find far-from-perfect, relatable information and blog posts that help you find what you need so you can spend more time at your sewing machine doing what you love…making quilts!

Look for inspiration, tools, and encouragement like:

  • Resources: All my favorite supplies, books, fabrics, people that are inspiring me, you tube videos, etc.

  • Free Stuff: PDFs and downloads that help you simplify and manage your hobby so you can spend more time making.

  • Encouragement: You might be wanting to learn new techniques or make more time for sewing. Or you might be on the verge of turning your hobby into a business or turning those doodles into your own fabric line. Whatever the case, I’m here to cheer you on and remind you that you can do it!

  • Patterns: You’ll find my pattern designs in my shop. I also share the patterns designed by others that I’m loving and making, too! I mean, let’s be honest…there are SO MANY patterns on my to-make list.

  • Quilt Alongs: Sometimes it’s just way more fun to make a quilt at the same time as all your quilty friends.

  • Tips & Tricks: That’s what friends are for, right? When you know something helpful, you share it!

  • Organization: Let’s be honest here. Organization is HARD sometimes. I mean, creative minds can’t always be neat and tidy. That said, there ARE benefits to having things organized and having some systems in place to help us be more productive with the limited time we have to sit and sew. Here, I’ll share what works for me.

  • Interviews: Every quilter has a story and a journey into quilting and I want to hear ALL the stories. Connecting you to folks you may not know about feels important to me.

  • Info for improving your skills: There are so many skills to learn and I want to guide you to the best information out there.

  • Community: As I said, quilting is so much more fun with friends who get it. You’ll never be alone in your hobby because I’ll be right here with you encouraging you along the way and never judging you for buying another new fabric bundle.

  • …and so much more!

How do I know what you need?

Well, because I’m you! I’m passionate about quilting and I have a to-make list a mile long.

I often say that I could sew every day for the rest of my life and still not get all the projects done that I want to do. I know you get that!

Why We’ll Be Virtual Best Friends?

Because I’m a true creative at heart, and I’ve learned over the years I’m happiest when I’m doing what feels like fun and what brings me joy.

Right now, that’s always making something with my hands, but it could also be a trip to my local quilt store, a browse through Target, or another trip to the kitchen for a second cup of Nespresso (with one Truvia packet and a generous splash of my favorite Nutpods creamer).

If we’re going to be BFFs, then you absolutely need to know that there are a couple of things I love as much or MORE than quilting (gasp!)…traveling and sweets! And they really go hand in hand, don’t they? Maple candies in Canada, macarons in France, sticky toffee pudding in England…I could go on and on!

I hope you’re seeing what a great match we are! I’ve learned the importance of connection with others and how good it feels to have a sense of community, both in real life and online. The quilting community is a generous one, and it’s my goal to be an encourager and cheer on everyone in their making.

I do hope you’ll grab a cup of your favorite beverage, put your feet up, and hang out with me.

Thank You!
